Cultural Competence

The DIANI project is pleased to run this successful practice sharing seminar again. Please see below for details of the event:

Cultural Competence refers to an ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures.  In this interactive session participants will explore what cultural competence means, reflect on elements of their own culture and develop knowledge and skills for working with a culturally diverse client base.

Why attend?
To reflect on the importance of being a culturally competent practitioner including the benefits this can bring to your interactions and work with children and families from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Who should attend?
Practitioners from; Health and Social Care, Education, Community and Voluntary sector or those with an interest in working with ethnically diverse people.

Programme or Agenda
Objectives for the Cultural Competence practice sharing session are:

•    Reflect on our own identity and how this can impact/affect others
•    Look at empathy and how this can help us in our work
•    Have knowledge of three definitions of cultural competence
•    Reflect on ways to bring our knowledge to the workplace


Event details

The training will take place from 9.30am - 12.30pm and tea, coffee and scones will provided at the session.
The training takes place at NCB NI, Albany House, 73-75 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7AF.

Please arrive for registration before 9.30am as the course will start promptly!

What does it cost?
£30 to all sectors.
Payments can be made by invoice. Click 'order now' and complete your details on the following registration page. Under the PayPal button at the bottom of the screen there is an option for other payment methods. Click on 'show' and you can request an invoice to be sent to the address you register.

Please ensure that the correct email address is entered as you will receive an automated confirmation email to confirm your place.

Each training day is open to 20 delegates, and places are booked on a first come, first served basis.

Cancellation policy
All cancellations must be received in writing. In the event of a cancellation, a full refund will be given for one month's notice, a 50% refund for 1 month to 14 days notice and no refund for less than 14 days notice. Substitutions may be made at any time.
